Meet Megan Still, D.C., as she discusses why she chose Chiropractic Medicine, how she approaches the care of her patients, and what brought her to Sentara.
Hi, I'm Doctor Megan. Still. I work at the Center for Norfolk Therapy Center and I'm a chiropractor. My areas of focus include pain management, nutritional advice and overall health. So when I was about five or six years old, my dad suffered from a very severe discrimination. He was led to a chiropractor who was able to treat him and he was no longer in pain anymore. The fact that he didn't have to go through surgery, even though everyone was telling him to get surgery was just a miracle to me and my family. I wanted to basically pursue it after that. I thought it was just amazing when I have a new patient come in. I like to do a full history on them. I like to hear everything that they need to complain about. I try to make sure I get all of the symptoms that they're experiencing, whether they think it pertains to their complaints or not and see how their overall health is and what their daily life is like to help determine what the actual problem is. We then get into a deep exam that will help determine and narrow down what the actual problem is if we need to get imaging, that's the next best step. And then based off of all of the findings in my exam, we base on how I treat my patients. I believe Centra gives great opportunities for interdisciplinary care. If my patients are having complaints of something that I know I cannot treat, I can easily give them the opportunity to get treatment for that complaint.
