Case Presentation: Resection of Large Pediatric Spinal Cord Tumor

Director of pediatric neurosurgery, Alan Cohen, discusses the case of a previously healthy 8-year-old boy who presented with progressive hip, back and leg pain as well as bladder and bowel dysfunction. Using telemedicine, Cohen reviewed the MRI, which showed a large intradural extramedullary spinal cord tumor. Cohen performed a microsurgical resection of the tumor through an osteoplastic thoracolumbar laminectomy.
