Dr. Thorsten Seyler conveys the benefits and personal value of using RI.INSIGHTS, a data visualization platform for surgeons that provides on-demand access to dashboards and case information from the CORI™ Surgical System.
I believe that robotics, I insights both of them make me a better surgeon that helped me improve and succeed in a bundle. It's an eye opening experience when you look at at your own data and you now have objective data to look at it. It's a different story. When you talk to somebody, I do totally in 50 minutes, you don't. That's a good time, right? It gives you a frame. This is this is when I'm done. But when you suddenly have data that shows you, you spend three minutes on this eight minutes on this five minutes on this and you go through it in your mind and you look at this. Oh wow. I didn't think about this and maybe I should change this and maybe I should change this. So initially, especially when I started switching from a different robotic platform, looking at this, looking at my own times, knowing how frustrated I was, it was eye opening where I lost time in a case because I compared it to my standard cases and then it taught me how to become efficient. So it's I think uh for me, my personal journey with this is a positive one as it improve me in my surgical experience. If I have certain deformities, if I have certain conditions, I can say, hey, learning from experience, if I do this, this and this, this is giving me the best bang for the buck, the best outcome, the best patient reported outcomes. And ultimately, that is gonna translate to a higher payment, right, as you get incentivized for that. So ultimately, I think the data that we're collecting is not only more cran at this point, I think it's giving us an opportunity to actually use it meaningful to improve outcomes. Look at data, traditionally, we had small health system data points, we had national registries data points that show you objective outcomes or reoperations. But it really doesn't paint a picture of patient satisfaction in it. I think the data that we now collect, we have a precision plan that gets documented. Uh When I did traditional total knee replacements, I couldn't tell you at what degree I put this in what slope I put it in and then ultimately correlated to an outcome. Um So it's kind of fragmented. Now, I have the opportunity to look at what I actually did in surgery down to one degree or less and then correlated with patient outcomes. If you look at the traditional knee replacement surgeons, typically don't change technique, right? Once you learn it, you do it the same way. Every time uh interventionally instrumentation, everything this is actually allowing us to quantify, measure this and improve over time. So I think this is the biggest advantage when you look at our insights, because you have this massive amount of data that offers an opportunity for the surgeon to really improve on their own performance. Insight offers a couple really important features that a surgeon should take advantage of. One of the features is quality control. I look at it, you look at your past cases, you look at time spent improvements and then also monitor your patient side, right? You have you correlated with the patient reported outcome measures, you implement plans and you have real time data on your hands that you can in your microcosm in your practice can look at your individual performance, how you improve over time, how you track yourself and then also have the opportunity to benchmark yourself against other surgeons and say, hey, if this surgeon has this condition, he does this, he has better outcomes than I do. Maybe I need to change. I look at this. So it offers an opportunity to not only objectively look at your own performance and kind of give you feedback for quality control purposes, but also to improve your continuous learning experience.
