South Carolina is at a crossroads when it comes to providing care to its children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It is universally agreed that early intervention leads to improved outcomes, but ASD services are expensive and out of reach for many families. As access to treatment, primary care providers will need to be familiar with recommended therapies and interventions and with the govern- mental and community resources that can provide or pay for them.
