Watch this video to learn what makes WellSpan's Restorative Pain program different from interventional pain programs and other traditional treatment options.
Oftentimes with chronic pain, you forget what it's like to not be in pain, and we help you to remember little by little, get back to not feeling pain and then develop hope, take that hope and grow it further. I cannot. Begin to express how happy not only that I found out but that I took the chance to participate in the WellSpan restorative pain program it literally did put my life back to where I felt like I could function and not only function but succeed. My chronic pain came from a motorcycle accident. I went head over heels over a car and bounced off the highway, and it completely offended my life because I went from being an extremely active, physically able person to Frankenstein walking after the initial treatment at the ER, I went to WellSpan because it's my health provider, was with a physical therapist, and they had recommended reaching out to the restorative pain program that was just getting started. Well-spent restorative pain program is a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to treatment of chronic pain. Wellspent restorative pain program differs from interventional pain programs and other pain programs in the fact that we are a holistic care and we are able to provide many non-medical treatments. The best part about those treatments. Is that the the tools that we're teaching patients to control pain are always with them. Simple things like breathing or meditating, that is something that you will always have. It was a one stop shop versus going to see a doctor and they do what they could do and after 3 weeks go, well, I can't do any more. Let me send you to somebody else and wait a month to get in a door. It was really nice to be able to come in and. And sit down with the physical therapist and the doctor. It felt like the first time a doctor actually listened to what I had to say about what was going on with my pain. Multiple disciplines that are all related to treatment of pain are able to see you as a patient at the same time and approach and look at you as a whole person rather than just a collection of symptoms. When someone develops chronic pain. It eventually infuses itself into all parts of their life, and then all parts of their life are in turn feeding into the pain. Here we're able to approach from all of these different aspects, biological, psychological, social. We have tools that we can teach and we have ways that we can treat. Gain from all of these different perspectives. If it wasn't for every facet of this program from meeting with the doctor to the physical therapist, it would incorporate daily tasks into my physical therapy routine to the mental health professional that helped me understand that being sad is OK because I wasn't raised to believe that. To the massage therapist, to the acupuncturist, to even speaking with a nutritionist, even though that wasn't, you know, my favorite thing to talk about because I'm a meat and potato kind of guy, but it was the program itself was everything that helped, not just one facet and Doctor B is amazing. Using the pain scale that most doctors use is 1 to 10. When I walked in here, I was at a constant 910. When I got done with the program in a year, I went to being at a 12 to now I'm at a 10. Get your butt in the door. It's going to change your life. It changed mine.
