Stacy Brethauer, MD, explains how bariatric surgery has been proven to be a more effective treatment for poorly-controlled type 2 diabetes cases over traditional medical therapies. Dr. Brethauer says patients from 12 randomized trials achieved better long-term outcomes and that about 85% of surgery patients enter remission with 1-2 years.
