Bicuspid Aortic Valve Disease Referrals | Penn Aorta Center

Joseph Bavaria, MD, reviews why patients with bicuspid aortic valve disease, with or without concomitant aortic disease, should be referred to the Penn Aorta Center.

“Most people who come to the surgeon for definitive treatment of a bicuspid aortic valve and/or the aortic aneurysm with it are between the ages of 40 and 65. Some of them are even less than 40, between 20 and 40,” says Dr. Bavaria. “It's basically a disease of people who are young, and actually may be in the prime of their lives regarding their families and their work and their careers. So it's very important that we execute excellent treatment options for these patients.”

To refer a patient, call the 24/7 provider-only line at 877.937.7366.
